in this first article, I want to share with you how we work at Castelli Creation in order to get our beautiful creations. Indeed behind each rug, cushion, blanket, or accessory that we create, there are several days of work, including artistic reflection, creation, and then support for craftsmen during the production process.
Artistic reflection and creation (Between Tradition and Modernity)
In each of my creations, I express my thoughts, my aspirations, regularly winking at my dual Franco-Moroccan culture.
Some are inspired by Berber, African, Arabic alphabet symbols, which I revisit in an abstract and/or cubist way, such as the Berber carpet “le Portrait des Astres” or “la femme Safran” Inspired from Matisse Nu bleu, imagined with the designer Diane Villeneuve.
Berber symboles that we revisited in LALLA Collection
Moroccan desert. Dakhla
Other creations are imbued with a moment of life, a landscape, a person. Like our collection of "Desert" Berber rugs inspired by the landscapes of the Moroccan desert. There is no limit to this process.
The collection is available in our Rug section in limited edition.
Production : Russian Berber mountain
Production is the second important phase of our work.
It is the moment when we meet artisans, when we discuss our designs, the choice of colors, the new techniques that we want to use or experiment (flat weaving, knotting, braiding,...), and the materials that will compose our creations (wool, boucherouite, cotton,...)
This is a stage when i give all my energy, and during which I am happy to work hand in hand with passionate people, strong in proposal and imagination. A unique moment that requires patience and during which all feelings are mixed (fear, doubt, joy, etc.).
Meeting with our Boucherouite carpet weaver in the Casablanca region.
Rahma works in her house, she is known for her creativity and her technicality. On the name of the village artist. Here we select the colors and discuss the techniques to use for the next carpet collection.

Proximity
Proximity with artisans is the core of Castelli Création. Obviously without them, without
their knowledge, without their patience and their love of art, all our Berber carpets, our cushions,
our blankets and accessories, would never have been possible.
Workshop with our weaving cooperative in the region of Marrakech
It is a collaborative work, so it is more than essential for me to be with them during these moments of production. During each new project, I visit the villages of Marrakech, Khénifra, Casablanca and the surroundings of Khemisset to meet them. This allows us to establish real bonds of trust and to reflect together on the best way to make a rug, an accessory.
Quality materials and natural pigments
Today it is more and more difficult to find quality materials and more precisely wool, the main ingredient of Berber carpets.
The Moroccan carpet market is all the rage and the quality is no longer always there. The prices have fallen and so has the quality of the wool (It Make sense)
At Castelli, we only work with quality materials. Our wool is silky and treated with natural products. The colors that compose it are natural pigments based on Saffron, henna, turmeric,...
Our Cushions and Plaids are worked in a cooperative around Marrakech. Each piece requires a week of work in order to obtain durable and high quality products. The cotton is 100% handmade, the colors are also natural.
Exhibition
Our work is exhibited at the end of each project, so you will be able to discover our pieces and their stories.
Occasional pop-up stores will be organized for the next collection and will be announced on our social networks and website.
